Built in collaboration with world-class Japanese tactical knife designer and custom maker Kiku Matsuda, the SOG Kiku Assisted has Matsuda’s unique and striking style paired with SOG production build quality to deliver a functional, tactical folding knife you can count on. Ultra-fast SAT spring-assisted operation deploys the premium S35VN stainless steel blade at a touch. Both blade and handle showcase Matsuda’s trademark design elements with a compound ground Tanto profile and milled, scalloped texture respectively. Full length stainless steel liners form a robust foundation with a simple, reliable button lock mechanism providing rock solid and secure operation. This version comes with linen Micarta handle scales over black liners and a black TiNi PVD coated blade.
Brand new, direct from SOG Knives.
Blade:Â Made from premium, American CPM-S35VN stainless steel, the blade has an iconic Matsuda style: Compound ground, recurve Tanto with a harpoon swedge. The Tanto point is flat ground for durability with enhanced piercing performance from the harpoon swedge while the hollow ground recurve slices aggressively. Finished with non-reflective black PVD Titanium Nitride coating the blade rockets out via dual thumb studs powered by the S.A.T. assist with a slide safety on the spine of the handle preventing unintentional deployment during carry. Jimping on the spine provides added traction on this decisively tactical blade.
Handle:Â Black coated stainless steel liners support warm, rugged, linen Micarta handle scales that have been milled and sculpted with Matsuda style scallops for exceptional comfort and traction in the hand. An index finger groove adds more safety during use while the rear taper of the handle makes it comfortable in multiple grips. Simple and intuitive, the button lock provides solid lock up and secure operation. A generous hole is provided for lanyard attachment at the pommel.
Carries via a reversible, tip-up only, stainless steel deep carry pocket clip.
CPM S35VN: was designed to offer improved toughness over CPM S30V. It is also easier to machine and polish than CPM S30V and the adjusted chemistry makes CPM S35VN about 15-20% tougher than CPM S30V without any loss of wear resistance. CPM S35VN’s improved toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping.
